As of 15/02/2020, nine people in England have tested positive for coronavirus. The UK Chief Medical Officers advised the risk to  individuals in the UK is moderate, and have updated their advice for travellers returning to the UK.

Travellers from Wuhan and Hubei Province:
If you have travelled from Wuhan or Hubei Province to the UK in the last 14 days you should immediately:

  • stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu

  • call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the area

Please follow this advice even if you do not have symptoms of the virus.

Travellers from other parts of China and other specified areas:
This advice applies to travellers who have returned to the UK from the following areas:
China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau

If you have returned to the UK from any of these areas in the last 14 days and develop symptoms of cough or fever or shortness of breath, you should immediately:

  • stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu

  • call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the country

Please follow this advice even if your symptoms are minor.

The NHS recommends that to reduce the risk of spreading flu:

  • wash your hands often with warm water and soap

  • use tissues to trap germs when you cough or sneeze

  • bin used tissues as quickly as possible

  • avoid close contact with people with symptoms of flu

We therefore suggest that if you have recently returned from China, or areas specified above and developed symptoms of cold/flu (including fever), then please stay at home and do not attend any of the Sunday Service or events, and to contact your GP in accordance to public health advice.

With reference to the guidelines of the Church of England, it is agreed that Sunday worship and other group meetings can be held as usual, but the leaders of each group can exercise tehir discretion to suspend some of the meetings. We will continue to follow and promote best personal hygiene practices to help prevent the spread of viruses.
